I did not ‘bash’ the EE switch. I merely asked some relevant questions. I have not ‘bashed’ Vitus. All I said on this thread was an innocent comment that top priority in my house is getting flour, which directly followed from a comment above about changed priorities. Nothing whatsoever has been ‘bashed’. If you don’t like what I write you can ignore me. Let’s try to make the Forum a happy place. There is enough unhappiness and nastiness in the world. Let’s be kind.
Being a lifelong Naim user I’ve often taken the approach that yes, there may be perfectly good alternatives, but I know what i’m getting with Naim so I’ll stick with it. In the 80’s I had tri-amped Isobariks for a while and when finances permitted I was determined to get back to that place. Very happy am I too. But I have to admit now that looking at the 025, it’s a very impressive, and to my eyes attractive, piece of kit. I can certainly see the attraction of the single box vs the multi box approach. it might even go down well with my better half. It might be something I will look at in a few years time as I approach retirement.
Does anyone know, or have experience of, longevity and servicing for the Vitus brand amplifiers?
Thats good to hear as i like my fact 12’s very much and they work very well in my room.
Looking forward a bit more today to Wednesday and how it goes up against the naim.
But did decided that it will need to really impress me to make me change, as i have invested quite a bit into my 500 kit and its a givern quantity, plus very happy with how it sounds, but at the same time i am interested in what the vitus can do and if i will like it or find it more appealing over the naim.
Strange then that the impedance of Naim’s own Ovators is 4 ohms?
Roger
Yes, a bit odd. Isobariks are not an easy load, 3 ohm I think, and Naim amps were always held up as being the best amps to drive them because of their tolerance for difficult loads. Or was that all marketing fluff?
Roger - I’m aware of that.
The DBLS were 4ohm I think (arguably designed to run active?) and SL2’s 6ohm.
I think (dangerous I know) that some manu’s cite amplifier needs of min (say) 60wpc when, in reality, they truly need >100wpc to perform well.
I agree that it’s the timing that Naim is particularly good at.
I must say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder - The Vitus looks too ugly to me.
I didn’t think it looked much different to the 500, same front style ?
Especially in black.
Can I suggest that anyone entertaining thoughts of buying into Vitus integrates also entertain a demo’ of the Gryphon Diablo 300? I did. It’s a masterpiece.
Can you say more about it? Had you Naim before ?

@Richard.Dane does an extremely good job as a moderator, I highly respect him as a man of intellect and as a forum arbitrator. Hat off to him.

I disagree. My experience has been ProAc’s love Tubes and Class A solid state. And for some reason ProAc works well with Naim, maybe because they aren’t a demanding load.
Once I used to be a moderator on an audio board and real time chat room.
Moderating is a thankless job.
I admire Richard’s enormous patience.
Yes - 252/250DR/Supercap/Melco N1z/Dyn Contour 60/SL cables throughout. The 300 was in a different world to the Vitus Ri100 I trialled it’s against. No idea how it stacks up against 25/30 but it’s significantly less expensive than either. It also has the coolest remote on earth and used values of the 300 and its resaleability are stronger IMO. For
more feel free to PM me.
The vitus RI00 is quite old and was superseded by the RI101 and now that has been superseded by the RI101 mk2, each one better than the one before, but the sia25 is better again and true class A up to 25 watt, and has a completely different sound to the other amps. How this all compares to what you suggest i dont know, but for me right now, its keep what i have or swap for the 25 if it betters it.
