Hi, on the Uniti Atom web page I read that there is also voice-control support for Google Assistant, Apple Siri,. How does it work? How can I setup it?
For ChromeCast, if you already have Google voice control working, you have to add the Atom in the Google Home app. That should work if the Atom and your phone are on the same network. In the past it has sometimes taken me more than one attempt.
Having said that, I find voice controls unreliable. I have found one issue (with my Muso) that Google has acknowledged is a bug. And just now Google insisted my Nova was a video device and could not play music.
And even when it works, I believe it’s limited to the capabilities and services that are available on ChromeCast Audio pucks. For instance, it can’t play from a UPnP music server.
EDIT
So now I’m beginning to wonder if this isn’t a bug associated with the new firmware. After updating, Google’s response to verbal commands to play music on any of my Naim streamers (Nova, Muso 2, and ND5XS2) is that I don’t have any music players on my network. Never got this response before the update. And of course, it’s nonsense. Not only do I have the three Naim devices, I have a number of Google music playing devices that are working just fine. So chalk that one as another Google response when it has no idea what the problem is.
I should add that the issue is solely with voice commands. I can ChromeCast from my iPhone to the Naim devices without a problem.
I e-mailed Naim regarding my experience. Voice commands to my Naim products never worked perfectly, but at least they worked before today.
