320,330.335? D or I?

I used to race a bit when I was younger and had a couple of E30 318iS, very nice to drive and deserve the baby M3 moniker, even down to the fact they are underpowered :grinning: M42 4 pot was a nice little screamer but the chassis needed more in the E30 I thought. At that point I was in the under 2 litre class and had rings run around my by pesky honda civic’s.

Wasn’t Julian into racing of sort ?

From the wiki page:
“He co-founded Coburn Improvements, a company that custom modified sports and racing cars.[1] He then made improvements to a Mini 850 S, which he raced for several seasons. In 1967, he participated in 23 races, of which he won 16 and placed in the rest. After that successful season, he decided to sell his car: it realised about £650 – a small fortune at the time.”

Not surprising. I was amazed the first hill climb I did in a 100bhp caterham 7, where I was slightly faster than an e30 M3

From Monday onwards I will be driving a Stromer ST3 to work. In addition I also drive a BMW X3

Very nice @BertBird - I looked at the Stromer ST series (great bikes!) before plunging for the Riese and Müller Supercharger …

Having a lot of fun on this, and with the Gates carbon fibre belt drive, Enviolo CVT and 1000W batteries (2x Bosch 500W), it’s a blast to ride and covers serious distance with ease.

E-bikes are definitely the way to go for folks who want to get out and about but need a little assistance on the steeper hills!

Hope you enjoy your bike - the Stromers are very nice!

Ok, I couldn’t quite stretch to a Bentley with a Naim stereo. So, the next best thing is a VW Up! Beats. It is built around it’s sound system and has a Turbo. Pick it up Wednesday. Impressive…

Stu

In the test drive I was immediately addicted. And I assume it will also lead to sitting more on a bike then ever before. The ST3 also has a large battery with a great distance…

A little Italian, which lured my wife into a purchase. But we are now bored with it and it sits rotting away in the garage, along with my Mini

The Alfa spider looks gorgeous. And I’m a big fan of old Minis too - so much fun to drive on country lanes. However, rot does seem to come as a standard part of ownership on both. Please get them out and on the road more often - I’m tired of seeing the hordes of 4x4 SUVs that are literally tearing up our roads around here.

Lovely Mk2, El Paso beige ? looks very clean indeed. Get it out and use it, you know it will put a smile on your face ! I had a 68 Mk2 (my avatar) and loved it.

The problem with Alfa is you’ll more than likely need a friend with an SUV to tow you back home. I’ve owned 2, both spent more time on the back of a truck than on the road.

That is a factoid, of the very worst Trumpian form. The Alfa did let us down once, but that was a failing coil, not an obvious AR part. In previous years we have driven it all across France and the UK, without a problem. I think we are just getting too old to enjoy the open Alfa, not when my wife’s other car is a Z4, nor the slow and noisy Mini (all 32bhp of it), compared to my M140.
