What are you driving and why would we be interested?

Now, now, children :winking_face_with_tongue:

I yield! Well done.

Here is my car in 2009, a view across from Skye to Glenelg. Decidedly in its element.

My first electric car, once you get your head around the limitations on a long trip it’s an absolute blast as a daily driver

Any Porsche would be my dream ride… the 911’s sure are pricey here in Canada..so sad to see so many of my favourite vehicles end production for 2026

I sold my 911(992) Targa 4S last week and this week welcomed an Alpine A290 GTS. Bit of a change, not really comparable, but both great in very different ways.

Fantastic- a great looking car.

Colleague at work has just bought a ‘base’ spec R5 in yellow - really is a fantastic looking car. Also, despite not having driven one, makes being inside ‘An Event’ which seems to be by far the exception with modern cars.

As far as i can see is a MY ‘03 onwards which has a few revisions from the ‘00 S2 launch model, like short roof, increased cooling system, lowered rev limit and no more Stacks instruments. I owned both, my ‘03 one was a bit more refined and better built, albeit softned a bit

Mine was pretty poorly built and I had a complete coolant loss from the (Toyota) engine that required a new engine if I recall. Apparently pretty unique, not that this made me feel much better! It also had a creaky body shell from new and went back to Lotus to have additional fixings (rivets?) in the shell. This solved it, but again didn’t inspire confidence.

It also had a panel resprayed due to poor paint quality. It started flaking off after only a few hundred miles.

My home built Caterham was probably better quality and certainly more reliable, but I am very glad to have owned an Elise, a true icon.

I wondered why the screen wasn’t demisting with the blower on and discovered that the factory had wired it to suck rather than blow (mine was a 1998 S reg). It was also terrifying driving at night as headlights from oncoming traffic reflected in the rear screen so it looked like someone was repeatedly going to rear end you at high speed

Sorry to hear this, Ruby Red is a rare colour btw

Looking back at my records it was actually Canyon Red Metallic. It was a lovely colour.

Bruce

Thanks for the clarification. It seems that Lotus revised the colour range for the S2. Albeit i remember some S1’s in Ruby Red with gold wheels and tan leather, It was quite an elegant spec

Last weekend i’ve been out for a spin with the Spyder RS, here we are in Magreglio, the late home of Nicola Romeo. Civenna the Village nearby the native home of the legendary F1 and prototypes racing driver Arturo Merzario.

Being still running in at 1600km, the engine band is limited to 5/5.5k out of 9k. However, even at low speed, the powertrain is much more engaging than bog standard 4.0 flat six. PDK gearbox is so addictive as well especially on downshifts.

Worth having a look at Throttle House review on YouTube to see/ hear those downshifts at full chat!
