The Beautiful South - Solid Bronze - WAV CD rip
Finishing off with this “great hits” compilation, I love the Beautiful South. Superb songs, witty insightful lyrics and catchy tunes with great hooks, so well played and sung, pop of the highest level. For me Paul Heaton is one of the great songwriters, from his work with the Housemartins, the Beautiful South and Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott he’s given us an oeuvre of superbly written songs.

Funny, I’ve been an Eno fan for over 35 years but only got hold of Ambient 1 late last year. It’s a terrific album.

First chance I’ve had to listen to anything this week. Thought I’d start a half day in the office with Bill Callahan Sheppard in a Sheepskin Vest.

Check out all of Jakob’s albums, his ECM albums and previous releases including ‘Ballarderring,’ ‘Time’ & ‘December Song.’ On those three albums he is playing with Bill Frisell and the two guitarists are simply fantastic together. You can find them on TIDAL and other streaming services.

Anouar Brahem - The Astounding Eyes of Rita

Anouar Brahem (Oud), Klaus Gesing (Bass Clarinet), Björn Meyer (Bass) and Khaled Yassine (Darbouka, Bendir).

Streaming on NAS… Taking Anouar and this marvelous quartet out for a spin and the music is magnificent! Love Anouar’s music, soothing and mesmerizing, and perfect for a damp and cold day outdoors but his music just warms up the room indoors! One fine and sweet album…

I beat you by two hours, playing the same album earlier. I much prefer Brahem’s older performances with smaller ensembles than his recent orchestrations.

Possibly the same time but a different time zone!

…I believe I first took out Anouar as well as Jakob Bro within the past few years after you mentioned them on this thread. That is why this is my favorite thread on the forum, being introduced to different artists that I may not have run across otherwise, so many thanks to you and the other members who contribute to this thread!

Well, it is a reversed role now, you showing the way since I hardly buy any new music these days.
