Ottmar Liebert - Nouveau Flamenco. A German born guitarist renowned for his Spanish influenced music. Released in 1990, this is his first album that fuses pop music forms and call-response structure together with flamenco elements.
Nearly googled Noo Awlins. Been a hard day.![]()
Zabriskie Point.OST. Visually stunning film directed by Antonioni 1970. Some great music including one of my favourite tracks “Tennessee Waltz”. Good use of Floyd for the dramatic ending. This edition has bonus disc of noodling by Pink Floyd and Grateful Dead (not together. That would be something)
Jeff, Ms Carla Bley is the pianist and Steve Swallow, her partner, plays the Bass. Thanks for the prompt, I have put ‘Picture This’ in the Qobuz queue along with ‘Dreams So Real - Music of Carla Bley.’
It’s sunny, and this is a great recent pop album with lots of catchy foot-tapping tunes, hi-res from Qobuz seems to add a lot of detail compared to CD quality streaming on limited listening so far.
In fact I’m not just tapping my feet, my whole body is moving as I’m sat typing listening to Hallucinate.
Poppy/disco stuff with a Latin feel - really catchy after a few listens if you like pop/disco, or simply a bit of fun…
Makes me want to get onto the dancefloor and bop around ‘dad dancing’ in embarrassing ways imagining I was 30 years younger!
Dua Lipa - Future Nostalgia
Patti Smith.Easter. I also bought this on vinyl. I tend to listen to it in a format that allows me to skip track 5 and I remember back in the day having a fierce argument with my best mate regarding her meaning of track 6. In these fraught times it would be unwise to open a thread on that topic
. Anyway a great album.
Now playing…
Gary Burton Quartet - Picture This
Gary Burton (Vibraharp), Jim Odgren (Alto Saxophone), Mike Hyman (Drums) and Steve Swallow (Bass Guitar).
Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… after a mention from @anon62442222 above I had placed this album in the Qobuz queue and now taking out for a spin and the opening track is sounding mighty fine! …looking forward to the rest of the album.
I would not go there either, Graham. Let’s just enjoy the music.!![]()
John Coltrane. Blue train. I have the vinyl on order…if it ever arrives.
