Prince - 2015 HITnRUN
Thank you @Fetchezlavache.
I remember when HITnRUN was released, I was living in Johannesburg and I had a wonderful music room (with Naim of course).
HITnRUN was unexpectedly fresh: the sampling of the past, his girls at times taking the stage, the horns… Many new things and his voice was perfect.
Very well put together, one track flowing after the other, a very enjoyable party… Perhaps a bit impatient? Even the title says it: HIT. While he had fun with the band and clearly was the master of his craft, he badly wanted another hit.
I listened to HITnRUN for weeks. My life was music, safari, family, work. I could listen to it time and again, the only negative being you wanted the next one asap.
Everything around Prince was growing impatient… There was a sense of urgency but the tragic blow of the following year really was unexpected.
He had so much inside… He still was the best. HITnRUN is just a little demonstration of his genius.
Mayer Hawthorn - Man About Time
Mrs G went to hairdresser last week and the guy cutting her hair was a DJ, they got chatting about music and he put this album on so just giving it a listen on Spotify… one to be added to the collection me thinks.
