On CD:-
Frank Sinatra - Nice ‘n’ Easy
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced (Authorised Hendrix Family Edition re issue 2013)
Authorised US version of AYE mastered from the original Mono masters by Bernie Grundman.
*Sounds superb and vastly superior imo to those split stereo versions with Jimi’s voice isolated over on the left channel and his guitar and backing extreme panned to the right.
The Mono mix consolidates the power of Mitch Mitchell & Noel Redding firmly behind Jimi in its primal glory.
*Given these werent exactly “audiophile” recordings this is mostly pretty good.
excuse me while I kiss the sky
John Lee Hooker (And special guests) - The Healer (Silvertone 1989)
Been so long since I played this
The album that kind of sparked a later life renaissance for JLH with a string of brilliant albums following up until his passing.
A stonking modern blues classic with support from Carlos Santana, Bonnie Raitt, Robert Cray, Canned Heat, Los Lobos, George Thorogood and Charlie Musselwhite.
And a special thanks goes to Clapton for not appearing
Thelonious Monk - Palo Alto
First time I’ve played this - oh boy! Despite a fairly brittle piano sound, it’s a cracking fine album.
The great Klaus Dinger’s post-Nue! project La Düsseldorf, and their self-titled debut, on vinyl. Contains the nearly-hit, “Silver Cloud”.
Soul II Soul - Club Classics Vol 1 ( 10 Records 1989)
A Happy Face. A Thumpin’ Bass, For A Lovin’ Race
Amazing what a little bolstering of the lower frequencies can do, right?
The Doors Strange Days
One might even say a kickass start to the day.
I’ll be honest, I’m stunned.
Old blue eyes was born on this day in 1915
(died in May 1998 aged 82)
1988 would have made him 73? I may be tired, so excuse the quick guess.

Happy 78th Birthday Dicky Betts!
born in West Palm Beach on December 12, 1943 and raised in Bradenton, Florida
I discovered this after a YouTube suggestion - who knows why the algorithm decided it.
But thoroughly enjoying this - not heard of them before alothough I thing Aldi / Lidl are using one of the instrumentals as part of their Christmas adverts.
Trans Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve and Other Stories
Some Carols and other stuff with a twist.
Good stuff methinks
They brought him back to life again, and he lived on another 10 years (…1998)
And we’re better off for it!
