Gabriel Fauré, Works for Cello and Piano. Gautier Capuçon, cello; Michel Dalberto and Nicholas Angelich, piano. Part of a 5-CD Box set “Complete Chamber Music for Strings and Piano”.

Featuring all-star team of French musicians, this box set offers a most interesting view of Gabriel Fauré’s chamber music. This morning I’m listening to CD No. 3, Sonatas for Cello and Piano, and to me they rank up there with the very best works of the genre.

Sound quality of the whole box set is simply amazing - makes me forget that I’m listening to the CDS3, not the LP12.

I enjoy the variety of talents this Canadian musician exhibits everything from extreme metal with Strapping Young Lad to the ‘Disneyesque / theatrical song “Why” from his last album Empath

Now playing…

Yes - Close to the Edge

Jon Anderson (Vocals), Bill Bruford (Drums, Percussion), Steve Howe (Guitar, Vocals), Chris Squire (Bass, Vocals) and Rick Wakeman (Keyboards).

Streaming on Qobuz (192/24)… kicking off this Sunday morning with a step back in the way back machine to visit the early 70’s with ‘Close to the Edge.’ Memories of giving it a spin on my old Garrard turntable through my Pioneer 747 receiver to my JBL L88 speakers! Oh my the time feels like it flew by some days… ‘YES’ is sounding mighty sweet this morning!
