Anton Dvorak, Piano Quintet in A major, Op. 81; String Quintet in D flat major, Op. 97. Talich Quintet (Petr Messiereur and Vladimir Bukak (violins), Jan Talich Sr (viola), Evzen Rattay (cello)) with Kazuko Mimura (piano) and Tasso Adamopoulos (viola). Calliope CD, part of a 4-CD box set.
Calliope publishes authorized reissues of classical CDs, and in my experience they systematically pick wonderful interpretations. This is a fine example - the Talich Quartet version of Dvorak’s Piano Quintets is played with a rare mix of enthusuasm and rigor, with perfect timing all the time.
Have listened to this twice already today as it’s sounding sublime as @seakayaker would say. Must also mention I’m quite taken with how awesome my little entry level olive system is sounding!
Thanks. Vinyl is for the home office vinyl rig. Not buying any downloads but streaming on Tidal on the Muso Qb in the kitchen (if ever there was an affordable piece of kit giving a lot of musical pleasure I’d say the Qb is it!).
I agree nothing much wrong with these 6 concertos.

When I set up my playlist for metal to Mozart I scoured the various authorities to find ‘good’ versions of each of the works as my physical library of music is small.

Eric Clapton - There’s One In Every Crowd, listening to the version included in the Give Me Strength box set. Joining EC’s 461 band are Byron Lee’s Ironmen, who play percussion on spanners and hubcaps and all things iron, plus some bonus tracks written by and featuring some dude called Winston Hubert McIntosh?
