Yeah, he went back to more of a soul style. Van has not been mr consistent, some great albums and some very mediocre, a bit like his stage appearances, On some concerts it’s plain he just couldn’t be bothered, probably dependant on whatever mood he was in on the day. The Healing Game is a great album though
This is obscenely good! I love it… Thanks for posting…
Karen Lovely - Still The Rain
Passionate and powerful blues vocalist, a must listen to album. Thanks to @NigelB for the reminder to have a long overdue listen to this forgotten gem.
Loved this group and that’s a great track, shame they don’t seem to still be producing.
Spot on Dread! I agree. The Ruts did that particular hybrid so well.
Happy memories of seeing The Clash several times from late 70s up to and including the Cut The Crap version of The Clash tour!
As an aside, I love the Strummer LP, Global A Go Go, for me, it’s the best thing he did or was involved in after Sandinista.
Or rather, looking back now after all these years, I find those records the most rewarding as a much older listener.
My teenage offspring are enamoured of White Riot era for its visceral thwack and I can derive a vicarious thrill for it too, still, just about, but it’s the other more expansive stuff that really resonates all these years on.
Also, I love lots of Big Audio Dynamite’s various and varying output.
Michael Stanley Band “Fourth And Ten” (1984) live regional release, self-produced and distributed, recorded live at Blossom Music Center, Cleveland Ohio.
Yes, they even appeared on Jools. None of the members seem to be involved with music anymore which is a pity,
Liam, the bass player, was my tenant for about a year and a half. Hardly saw him as he was always on tour either in Europe, Japan or USA. Nice boys!
Pierce Brothers - Into The Great Unknown - Release day vinyl
New album from the Aussie folk-rock duo, my copy arrived with me today. Another excellent disc from the boys, they write tender ballads and crowd-pleasing numbers with infectious wail-along choruses, and they sing them really well. A class act on record, and an absolute storm live.
Pretty time poor lately. Can’t wait until Easter is here and catch up with my naimie, I mean music.
Goldfrapp, can’t wait!
Me too. And Streetcore although I struggle with Joe’s cover of Redemption Song.
Not sure, I cant recall if these are re issues there very well presented with gatefold and CD copys, the Streetcore includes a Live Concert as well.
Eric Clapton - 461 Ocean Boulevard, great opener with " Motherless Children ", one of my favourite EC tracks.
Yep, it’s a pale rendition.
I’ve only got the CD of these two. Seemed to remember the vinyl being re-issued and I passed it by, regrettably.
Not too fussed about the just released Joe comp.
Need to do some “gardening”. Whilst popping in n out from the garden, cant get too distracted with a full album, but I can indulge in a single or two!
Ha, me too, unfortunately, so The Clash playlist I’ve just set up will have to wait a short while.
Nice box!
I’ve blasted through their debut, now plunging into the sprawl and splendour of Sandinista!, in all its (vain) glory.
Purely because of the music of course …
