Miles Davis - ‘In A Silent Way’ (1969). Where it all started! In the late sixties Miles Davis jazz records had been changing, gradually introducing more rock based styles. This album and ‘Bitches Brew’ which followed, and the series of great live albums improvising on this material really cemented this progression. Only three tracks. The whole of side 1 is ‘Shhh…peaceful’, then on side 2 the iconic title track and then ‘It’s About That Time’. I came to all of this rather late. When I first heard Jazz Fusion in the seventies with Mahavishnu and Weather Report and others I learnt this came from ‘Silent Way’ and many years later I had worked back to this, and to the earlier 1960s work of Miles, Herbie Hancock etc. I am still working back!
Moving from 1972 (Exile on Main St.) to 1978, CD Virgin label ripped to WAV.
