What are you listening to in 2022 and why might anyone be interested

Along with Ese and The Vooduu People, my other favourite ‘new’ artiste.

They’re both great and I love em.

A new recording of Vivaldi’s ‘Stabat Mater’ so particularly apposite for this time in the religious calendar. Absolutely stunning recording

Now playing…

Lucinda Williams - West

Lucinda Williams (Acoustic Guitar, Vocals), Robert Brophy (Viola), Rob Burger (Accordion, Hammond B3, Organ, Hammond Organ, Piano, Electric Piano, Prepared Piano, String Arrangements, Vox Organ, Wurlitzer, Wurlitzer Piano), Gia Ciambotti (Vocals), Bill Frisell (Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar), Tony Garnier (Electric Bass, Double Bass), Jim Keltner (Drums, Percussion), Timothy Loo (Cello), Gary Louris (Vocals), Doug Pettibone (Acoustic Guitar, Baritone Guitar, Electric Guitar), Jenny Scheinman (Violin) and Hal Willner (Sampling, Turntables).

Streaming on Qobuz (44.1/16)… a mention earlier from @Gianluigi had me place this in the queue and now taking out for a spin and Lucinda and the very talented musicians working with her are sounding sublime! One very fine album…

Neil Young and Crazy Horse : Sleeps with Angels. First play since the changes made to my LP12, at first I thought the album was worn out but it’s just Neil giving his guitar hell.

Portishead | 1997
Trip hop from Portishead on their eponymous sophomore. More raw and basic than subsequent iterations and all the better for it. Beth Gibbons sounding wonderful as ever.

A great combo. Bubbley Kaur & Cornershop. What a voice she has.

Seakayaker,
Not sure if you are aware Jenny Scheinman (Violin) played with Bill Frisell on a few of his albums and also has a few solo albums worth listening too.
