John Smith - Live in Chester - WAV CD rip
Great folk singer-songwriter-guitarist, captured live. His guitar work is so expressive, his self-penned songs are meaningful and lovely and his traditional numbers are interpreted really well. I saw him in Bury last night, my first time seeing him, a double vinyl album, this CD and three others came back with me from the merch table.
Coldplay - A Head Full of Dreams - 2015
Tidal Masters
Never played this right through, and a bit of a mixed bag but nice ‘n’ chirpy I guess
Karen Peris - Violet
CD rip | 2012
Karen Peris is the lead singer for The Innocence Mission. This album is similar to their works as a group.
Despite the bland and pristine brightness of this sterile production, the soulful and playfulness of BW’s gift still manages to shine through. If you squint from a certain angle!
Imagination/Brian Wilson (1998).
5.1 DTS disc.
Now playing…
Tord Gustavsen Trio - Opening
Tord Gustavsen (Piano), Steinar Raknes (Double Bass, Electronics) and Jarle Vespestad (Drums).
Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… a mention above by @PhilChill had me place this newly released album, April 7th, into the queue and now taking out for a spin. …and as always Tord and his Trio are sounding mighty fine on the opening track and look forward to the rest of the album!
More Songs About Buildings and Food/Talking Heads in 5.1 (1978).
Update: just switched to 2ch stereo mix, and it’s soooooo much better.
Remain In Light, Tongues, Creature all work well in surround, but this and the debut don’t.
Cyril Davies - Preachin’ The Blues.
Having a wee nostalgia fest this afternoon, with Cyril Davies, blues wailer with Alexis Korner’s Blues Incorporated.
At 14, I’d just started getting into the Chicago blues of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, so it was nice to stumble across some home grown stuff too.
Cyril was a regular on Ready, Steady, Go! on Friday evenings, and his “Country Line Special” and “Chicago Calling” are burned into my musical consciousness for ever.
Loads of his stuff on Tidal, so go on, have a bash.
