Alice Coltrane - Journey in Satchidananda

The title takes some spelling effort!

The new speakers have really taken this to a new level of clarity and realism. Consequently it’s also more enjoyable.

Had a hip replacement op last week so have been on a diet of internet radio so I didn’t have to keep getting up.
This was the first disc played to soothe the mind

The track list and order is exactly the same as on the 2010 Doxy LP.
It maybe where they got the transfer from, and murdering the quality in the process.

Really enjoy Patrick O’Hearn. Especially this album. His music is something I doubt many listen to. It might surprise some.

‘All Things Must Pass’ 50th anniversary green splatter vinyl

Plus: George’s excellent vocals pushed to the fore, and the clearer backing vocals on ‘Let it Roll (Ballad of Frankie Crisp)’ are a revelation

Minus: Too much bass in the overall mix - ruinous on several tracks.

I play this once in a while. It’s just a really nice album.

Will Sheff’s Okkervil River Away

Special mention (I forgot) to the title track which is all of side 4. It’s a nature recording -no human music. Birdsong and river sounds slowly segueing into rain pattering and a thunderstorm, then back to the birds and fade into rumbling winds and the chirrup of insects. Just takes me away…beautiful.

Dennis Bovell - The Dubmaster The Essential Anthology (Tidal Master/Trojan)

Nice cherry pick through the catalogue of Dennis “Blackbeard” Bovell.

Would have been good to have included some of his productions beyond the Reggae/Dub genre but thats obviously thats not what Trojan are about
