Pretty good recording for an unofficial release.

Mary Chapin Carpenter - The Dirt and the Stars. Only just got this, although it was released a couple of years ago. I think this is up there with the best of her albums.

Songs of Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach arranged by Bill Frisell. Another new album for me. As a fan of EC and BB, I find this very enjoyable.

Tomorrows Warriors presents J Life

Debut album from the eighties from young Brit Jazz Collective nurtured by Gary Crosby, still going strong teaching and mentoring great young artists

I watched the Emmylou Harris doc on TV again last night, so time for Red Dirt Girl, her follow-up to the breathtaking Wrecking Ball (collaboration with Daniel Lanois - what an album). I’ll dig out Stumble Into Grace later, another great one.

The Gladiators - Symbol Of Reality (Omnivore Recordings/Nighthawk)

Fine Gladiators album from the eighties iirc, originally recorded for the excellent Nighthawk label whose recordings are available again from Omnivore.

Expanded version on CD/Stream and original vinyl version re issued

Disc Two of this five-CD set. Starts off pure blues-y, then it goes hard R&B, and finally it ends up being a bit jazzy. An epic journey from '49 to '53…
