Various - Buena Vista Social Club Presents - CD
Being she’s from Leeds I’ve tried desperately to enjoy her stuff but it’s not for me sadly. The first single off the new album was almost industrial in comparison to her previous stuff. That augered well for the new album which is, as you say, very different and is apparently inspired by an exhibition on black history. Great stuff.
I have never heard that record, but the music is wonderful, and Marriner/ASMF would seem to be the ideal interpreters.
I have been trying for years to find a new LP of their recording of Vivaldi’s ‘Four Seasons’, with Alan Loveday as soloist. I will track down a copy one day!
In my view their best.
Beats OK Computer and Kid A.
Fake Plastic Trees and Bones… my word.
Elton John - The Captain & The Kid.
Jeff Wayne, the musical version of the wars of the worlds. Work finally done. Can sit back and enjoy this.
