Yes the DSOM Redux is an enjoyable and interesting new approach. effective bass and paired back drums. I still maintain that if they had got a good singer they could’ve been a really successful group, although Gilmore did improve over the years. Well, worth a listen. One of the great joys of streaming is the breath of stuff you can try.

First play:

Jesus And Mary Chain
Barrowlands Live
Deluxe book edition.

Boy oh boy… this live gig recording sounds alive and shows the power of the Chain much better than the (nice as it is but a little flat) Sunset 666 live album. Barrowlands captures the feel of being there. Atmospheric or what…Love it.

(And it has a live version of my favourite JAMC track ever, You Trip Me Up - the original recording of which I played over and over (and again) on its release (12" 45). Sheer overdriven guitar brilliance.)

F-A-B.

Roger Waters: DSOTM Redux

I’m part way through but have heard enough to break with the consensus here. I doubt I’ll listen to Roger’s beautifully recorded but ultimately musically dull and uninvolving karoke version again, when the original masterpiece is just a click away.

Edit - I’ll give Roger credit for this version of Money, which managed to convey the song in a very dark and almost threatening way that I found equal parts impressive and uncomfortable.

Creation Rebel. Rebel vibrations.
Originally bought on vinyl.
Used to wear a button badge but can’t remember if it came with the album or whether bought separately at one of their concerts. Probably still got it somewhere.
And unlike concert T. Shirts it would still fit.

@Charles64 …a few more of the Beach Boys collection. I missed out Mike Love and Bruce Johnston previously. Centre bottom row is Stephen Kalanich cd with Brian Wilson. The bloke in the photo is me 21 years ago and BW signing my programme at Symphony Hall Birmingham, the signature on the photo is BW also at SH a few years later.

It’s been a while since I have listened to some EELS, so popped Daisies of the Galaxy on while I do a spot of record cleaning. I have always found the SQ to be good on EELS albums.
