What are you listening to in 2023 and why might anyone be interested?

Nice to see that album getting a play Simon! Their NEC gig on that tour was fantastic, and one my all-time favourites. 22 years ago, wow.

You are a very bad influence, young man.

My favourite jazz album too. Magical. The recent Analogue Productions/Acoustic Sounds remaster is excellent.

More CAN on great-sounding SACD. The title track’s a stunner.

Wasn’t sure about purchasing these LPs again @Cmax @Pete_the_painter but Giles Martin making the case for it in the Sunday Times Magazine today is tempting me.

I like the description of the ‘A Hard Days Night’ remaster. “Now you have the sound of a band in a room. Four men in their early twenties hitting the sh!t out of stuff. You hear the crack of the snare. Ringo suddenly has a kick drum.”

I sure did. Massive TD fan back in the day, certainly up to the mid 80’s when bland soundtrack work took its toll on the regular albums. Also got the follow up Purple Twilight box set as well. Recent material without Edgar is a step back towards the classic 80’s sound. Hades goes for big money now I believe.

‘Quartet’ has the most glorious opening track - ‘Reap the Wild Wind’ - which was produced/engineered by George Martin and Geoff Emerick
