What are you listening to in 2023 and why might anyone be interested?

Natalie Merchant, leave your sleep. Almost two hours long but thoroughly enjoyed it.

A wonderful album of Wyatt interpretations - for some reason continental Europe seems to appreciate our peculiarly English special talents (Kevin Coyne being another) more than we do ourselves.

My favourite Dan album. From 1976, this is the sensational US Santa Maria pressing, cut by Brian Gardner at Allen Zentz Mastering. It’s cut slightly hot, so no smooth-sounding record this, which is fine as it suits the material perfectly.

I do hope this album, with its splendid cover of “On Broadway”, will be the next in LITA’s Nancy Sinatra Archive series.

Wrote the songs, played all the instruments, produced the album and painted the cover. Always had a soft spot for Wood, a pop maestro imo. CD rip.

Resorted to some good-time rock n roll!

Beckett
50 years ago tonight Geordie band Beckett were supporting Alex Harvey at the Croydon Greyhound.
Vocalist Rob Turner sadly lost his life in a car crash and was replaced by Terry Wilson-Slesser, who later went on to join Back Street Crawler.
