I really like South African jazz. Has a unique feel. Very atmospheric. I noticed that had been rereleased without knowing anything about it as in I’d never heard of it.
After Rockpile I thought I would follow with either Repeat When Necessary, or..
Nick Lowe -Jesus Of Cool.
A band I’ve heard a few different tracks at times on Radio Paradise… Death Cab for Cutie. Something g very intriguing about their sound…
Death Cab for Cutie: Asphalt Meadows
Playing the sublime track " Midnight in Harlem". Derek Truck’s guitar playing is stunning. Lots of live versions on Youtube as well.
Bedtime Tunes
Sarah McLachlan - Shine On
2014 saw the 14th Studio Album from Sarah McLachlan following the death of her father and divorce.
Lots of emotion in this one.
Inexcusably I missed this vast set out from my recent Fall stint. On every level these versions are generally better than their studio album equivalents. The live in the studio format captures Mark and the gang(s) in full, vibrant flight.
Disc 1 of 6.
The Peel Sessions/The Mighty Fall.
Some early morning jazz – Ben Webster Meets Oscar Peterson (1959) on CD digipak version (quality packaging). Just drink it in.
Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks - CD (1975)
49 years ago today 08/02/75, Bob Dylan went to No.1 on the US chart with his 15th studio album ‘Blood On The Tracks’, his second US No.1 album. The album has become one of Dylan’s all-time best-selling studio releases.
Carol Duboc - With All That I Am, on CD from c.2001. Mostly lighter-weight/smooth jazz vocals from singer & songwriter Carol. Very pleasant – and a welcome change from vocalists doing the usual covers. Appears a much-lauded artiste in some jazz circles, and with good reason listening to this.
Amazing Blondel - Mugrave Street
From the album cover it seems they are not Amazing at the time just Blondel.
Such was their greatness they had Paul Kossoff, three of Bad Company (without Paul Rodgers) and Eddie Jobson play on the album.
