What are you listening to in 2024 and why might anyone be interested?

One of the most copied/exploited pictures of all time. There’s a TV show with Waldemar Januscek that tells its story, Masters of Art, I think. Love this version!

Wonderful, quixotic song cycle by Jim James/Teddy Abrams/Louisville Orchestra. (2019).

Also, a remarkable live capture of orchestra and voice. Very dynamic.

Various Artists: Totally Wired Series Two, Volume Two

I tried the Third Mind album loved by many and found I didn’t get on with the vocals at all, so time for something thoroughly groovy!

Wow.

A scorchingly fast jazz tune live Tokyo 1983.

Mississauga Rattler with Oscar Peterson, Joe Pass super fast guitar, NHOP bass solo, and the brilliant, super fast British drummer Martin Drew.

One of the Keith Jarrett Trio’s best albums - a one-off performance of original compositions improvised throughout, without rehearsal or pre-planning.

Some Gambian Kora music to start the day. Personally don’t think she has ever made a bad album.

Bob Dylan - Time Out of Mind

Despite his voice being shot at this time, it’s a jolly fine record.

Anna Lapwood on BBC R3 FM. Sounds like something from a film. Dreamland. Gorgeous, and as presenter Georgia Mann said, ‘hypnotic’.

Les McCann, Live at Montreux, 1973.

Because in memory and celebration of Les McCann I am going through “Compared to What”, this (new to me) “What’s Going On” and much more.
