Streaming on Qobuz (96/24)… Kicking off this morning with a second spin of John’s recent album released on February 16 and he and the members of his quartet are sounding sublime! I enjoyed this one yesterday for the first time and wanted to give it another listen.

1982 German Pressing by Metronome Hamburg
The winner from Winterhude! Sometimes digging in one of the best record stores is a surprise
Got this for a tenner in an NM condition and it sounds so warm and beautiful, at least as good as the best of the Acoustic Sounds Series of every kind. The precision of this one is just overwhelming, you can hear any detail and it is so silent after all these years. What a joy. This is what you cannot get from streaming. Vinyl rules ![]()
I’m a fan of (Japanese) Ghost, so bought this yonks ago based on that. Quite different to Ghost’s In Stormy Nights or Live, more like Masaki Batoh’s solo stuff.
A melodic, ‘folky’ (never quite sure what qualifies as such) collaboration with Damon Krukowski & Naomi Yang. Lovely.

2020.
I have every Rush album, this one contains one of my favourite Rush songs and a live staple, “Subdivisions”. Great stuff!
a-ha. Live unplugged. 2X CD. 2017. Guests include Ian McCulloch, Alison Moyet and Lissie.
I think it is easier to realise how good their songs were when played on real instruments and without the 80s splashy synthetic production. Morten’s voice is still a thing of wonder.
Having played the remixes earlier: the original.

US first press, 1993, clear vinyl.
Just beautiful (and the new 2023 reissue on clear blue vinyl sounds great as well, should anyone be tempted).
As someone in a record store said to me once “that’s the album with, what, four notes on it, right?”
Close!
Is ‘’Iechyd Da’’ by Bill Rider-Jones, a very nice album.
That brings back memories of doing my homework on a Sunday listening to Annie Nightingale. She seemed to play it every week!
@krautnaimie by a weird coincidence I have just put this new reissue from Craft on:
