What are you listening to in 2024 and why might anyone be interested?

Definitely ‘Skiing Off Piste’ now…
P!nk - Trustfall

I make no apologies for owning this superb album on Vinyl.

U2 - The Joshua Tree - 1987

That lovely Eno/Lanois production. They shifted 10m copies in the USA alone, wow!

My Dying Bride : A Mortal Binding 2024 (Qobuz 44.1/24)

IMG_0426

West Yorkshire doom merchants My Dying Bride released their latest album A Mortal Binding this week (April 19th).

Aaron Stainthorpe fair barks his lyrics out on the album opener but by the second track we are back to his more melancholy style of singing which I much prefer and this style is more evident for the remainder of the album.

There might be nothing particularly new here from MDB but this is still another very fine slice of their signature doom metal with chugging riffs, solid drums/bass and
effectively emotional string/keyboard accents.

Picture a small huddle of mourners around a grave, on a cliff edge with grey/black skies and rain streaming down and you get the general idea.

Given the ridiculous low price this is on Qobuz at the moment, a purchase is inevitable.

Another flick of the ‘Genre Tail’, to classical this time and Carlos Kleiber’s DGG recordings of Beethoven’s 5th & 7th from the Box Set.

@graham55 has informed me in the past that few recordings of these pieces rival Kleiber’s DGG set.

Hi Gary
It made my fingers bleed, but was a lot of fun.
Really fiddly build and I’m not kidding, I really shed blood doing it😂

Just listening to 29 Palms due to your prompt. Brilliant song.

Just noticed that the excellent guitar is by the late Kevin MacMichael who was in the Cutting Crew in the 80s.

I didn’t do RSD but I did visit a 2/H record shop and stumbled across this beauty!

A US first pressing from 1972 and especially poignant after Dickey Betts’ sad passing 2 days ago. RIP🥲

The Allman Brothers Band - Eat A Peach.

An absolute bargain at £20. And no queueing either👍

Next stop: Degritter clean, then new inner sleeves, then on to the platter.

RSD?……whatever.

A quick blast from Bryan required, it’s no Boys and Girls, but sounds fabulous.
