Muse CD. Sound a bit dated, sort of of its time.
This after being at the RAH at the weekend for a showing of the film with a full orchestra playing the film’s soundtrack.
My 2 newbies for today. Albums I haven’t or don’t remember seeing on here. The top album is Brad Armstrongs 2019 set I Got No Place Remembers Me.
Steely Dan Pretzel Logic / 2011 Geffen / Japan SHM CD / UICY25037
When the demon is at your door
In the morning it won’t be there no more
Anna Von Hausswolf - Iconoclasts (2025). Swedish composer/musician, fond of pipe organs, great voice. Random selection from Qobuz new releases, worth a listen.
Edit: actually, blooming brilliant, intense, varied, intelligent stuff. Will be playing this again later.
2 Doobie Bros and 1 CCR band member album recorded around 91/92 and not initially released until 2009.
A bunch of trax off the new Robin Trower Live album due 30th Jan next year.
Track listing below:
The Razor’s Edge
Too Rolling Stoned
Wither On The Vine
Somebody Calling
Distant Places Of The Heart
One Go Round
It’s Too Late
Day Of The Eagle
Bridge Of Sighs
No More Worlds To Conquer
Daydream
Little Bit Of Sympathy
Rise Up Like The Sun
Bartók String Quartets / Alban Berg Quartett
I have three recordings of these works, but not this one, so I’m listening via Qobuz. It might lack the emotional connection felt when listening to the Takács or Emerson versions (or Hagen, perhaps), but the sound is superb.
The wonderful Sam Cooke singing gospel track one is The Last Mile Of The Way which is featured in the Bruce Springsteen ‘Delivery Me From No Were’ bio pick.
My CD version of this magnificent album. The remastering sounds pretty good on this, a bit different from my early LP and A Devine Symmetry, but I don’t mind as I like them all ![]()
