Joe Sample Ashes to Ashes / 2014 Warner / EU version of Japan CD / 8122795700
Ian, my girlfriend at uni was from Brighton but late 80’s so I missed all that!
Great to hear that LS story, I honestly knew nothing about him until picking the CD up, early 2000’s?
I’ll check the recommendation out later, in town celebrating yet another win for the Red Army.
Oh dear.
Recorded up the road from me at Lympne (a place if you heard the name you couldn’t pronounce it and if you heard it you couldn’t spell it).

Thought I was the only JS fan on here! Saw them many times at the Sunday night sessions in the Community Centre in my home village in Derbyshire. Great band, so tight, great voice too. And a very good quality recording to boot. Going to have to play it now.
That album cover always brings a smile Alan as maybe last year there was a poster who started getting very P.C about album covers that he thought were a bit saucy or contained nudity and would tell the posters off.
I respected that but at the end of the day its about music and different decades well things were less P.C than now.
Anyway I always remember someone posted an album cover maybe Blind Faith ? and the usual response from him…disgust
But what made me smile you posted that Robert Palmer album later that evening..I dont know if it was a coincidence but it was incredibly dry humour…
He would often post really naff Euro vision YouTube videos …that much I do remember
Enjoy the Robert Palmer
Ian
Evening Ian, yes, I remember the poster very well and well spotted and remembered regarding my little bit of fun. We must have worn him down with our risque covers. The Blind Faith cover was always problematic anyway wasn’t it, but that was solved by the cd release of a deluxe edition with plastic slipcase covering some of the cover.
Yes we did wear him down a bit as next morning I think maybe a Saturday morning I couldn’t resist posting Led Zeppelins Houses Of The Holy just to cheese him off.Infantile I know looking back.
Yes The Blind Faith he did have a point as it was a bit paedophile like and you telling me it has a sticker now thats absolutely fitting.
He ment well and everyone has their opinion and I did feel a bit bad for posting the Zeppelin the next day .But it was in the spirit of the music rather than being told what is a suitable album cover and at the end of the day we buy the album as we like the music by the artists and its their call with their artwork..where just consumers I suppose.
Agreed, but sometimes, with regards to some artwork, you just think why?

I am not quite sure how I came across this on Bamdcamp (probably a link at the bottom of something similar) but this is a lovely piece of instrumental stoner/desert/psych from Crete. The cover somehow encapsulate the music nicely,
Just 6 tacks and less than 30 minutes it zips by leaving you wanting more but as it is their first release that’s all you get. Well worth €5 of anyone’s money. Didn’t find it on Qobuz.
Listen and then buy you stoner/psych fans
Hi Ian, I got pulled for posting The Human League’s Reproduction Album even tho I had covered the naked babies up, he made his feelings known, hope he’s okay.
First, Donald Fagen - Kamakiriad
Then, Terry Reid - Seed of Memory
Now, Leonard Cohen - Popular Problems
Drying out after work. As well as these CDs, there has been supper and a glass or two of red too.
That wasn’t the same bloke that posted the best of the Carpenters every day. I think it was the only record he owned.
I don’t think it was the same guy Andy?, but I do remember that Carpenters cover getting under your skin ![]()
