Renaissance - Scheherazade
If I’ve interpreted your post correctly, this appears to be the most popular Renaissance album, so I streamed it on Qobuz, whilst driving into Batheaston. I still can’t quite relate to Annie Haslam’s voice in a progressive folk rock setting.
Sigur Rós - Takk - 2005
Quite like the Slowdive-esque guitar on this album, and the very tactile embossed CD cover for that matter.
That got me thinking about women in 70’s prog rock. Other than Annie Haslam I came up with Sonja Kristina and Gilli Symth.
The obvious one to compare with Annie Haslam must be Sandy Denny in Fairport and Fotheringay. Not considered progressive maybe, but the boundaries are very blurred. Besides, what is the definition of ‘progressive’?
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins - Diamond Mine. Having recently enjoyed KC’s 2023 release, I DES, I thought I’d dig this out and what a lovely album it is. A bonus is that I’d forgotten that I have another KC album, Bombshell so I’ll give that a long overdue listen soon.

The Qobuz hires file of this is much much better than the original CD. One of the first commercially produced, which I also have.
I’m usually fairly skeptical about remasters, but in this case…

Renaissance - Ashes are Burning
This seems a bit more ‘progressive’ (whatever that means) and more appealing to my ears anyway.
Just had a quick and short preview of Ese and The Vooduu People’s new track Glowing.
It sounds…immense.
The video is on Face Book so sadly can’t share it here.
Youssou N’Dour - The Lion
Sounding fantastic after a very long time. Sticker suggests I bought it in Notting Hill Gate, probably late 80s.
Thanks Graeme for the this, I will check that out ![]()
Espen Eriksen Trio - You Had Me at Goodbye
Their debut album from 2010.
A great show from these guys last night in Edinburgh.
