Back to UNKLE and the excellent Ronin I album. I subscribe to James Lavelle’s monthly newsletter and he mentioned he’s going back into the studio later this month. Fingers crossed that’s to start a new album

Forgotten Melodies is Alexander Malofeev’s debut recording of works by four Russian composers: Mikhail Glinka, Nikolai Medtner, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Alexander Glazunov. Each left Russia and spent time in Berlin where the young Malofeev is now based. Sony CD.

Mermaid Chunky - Slif Slaf Slof (2024). Stroud’s finest, arty, ravey, brilliant. Been wanting to see them for ever, and they are playing Oxford on Saturday. Alas I will be in Brussels, celebrating my 70th (a little prematurely), so will have to console myself with waffles and beer.

A sad loss such a humble and nice guy.No big ego and the fact that he always refused to tour America even though it would have generated more income through albums sales.I admired his principles.
