Tried this one as well. Faint impression of the style of singing of Mich Jagger…

Hometown Girl
2025
28912 Records

One of a pair of 2025 releases from US musician Ulla Straus. This is a loose limbed, mostly acoustic affair with sparse vocals and instrumentation enveloped by field recordings plus occasional traces of electronic processing. It’s an album full of flickering, atmospheric charm.

Ian and Gary, @Tabbycat @Cmax

Your discussion yesterday on those mono cassette players brought a smile to my face, ditto here, a PYE that sounded pretty ropey!

Fast-forward >> (ahem, apologies) a few years and it was an AIWA G08 that was a game-changer for me, what a sound!

Only possible via my weekend uni job at Laskeys and a huge staff discount I’ll add …

Have a great day.

Jessica Williams Trio - Time to Burn (2007). Blimey, she can really play. Great live set.

Thats impressive and I can honestly say I have never seen one of those before.

I’ve always had a soft spot for tape reply especially Cassette, you could listen at home, play it in the car and listen on the go, I was lucky to own a Sony WM-D6C in the mid 80’s, then minidisc came along, and then that all got blown away by a certain Mr Jobs iPod, and I know a lot of people on here are not fans of anything Apple, to me its a natural successor.

I’ve said it before, oh for a Tardis.

Twenty One Pilots, Clancy - 2024

A younger friend introduced me to these two clever musicians over ten year ago and ever since I’ve been hooked, there’s not a single song I’ve not grown to love.

I was going to give this an airing tomorrow on the anniversary of his death, but I can’t, I don’t know what it is, I want to remember him as funny, someone who lived life to the full, not living his final months when he recorded this.

I like the album, I just think for me there’s a time and a place, I have to be in the mood to listen to it, tomorrow won’t be one of these days.

6 Music for me today, loads of Bowie,Bowie influenced and Bowie related music. Really enjoying it even though it’s only on in the background as I’ve got to lovely job of making the loft hatch bigger . Mrs KJH is off to the shops soon, volume will be up a notch or two then.
