Bitchin Bajas - Isle Peaks (2026). Two long-form psych tracks (26m in total) recorded exclusively for Qobuz. Wonderful.
Really like Bellybutton Jellyfish and not listen much their second album but was told by a friend that Split Milk is better.
Some great compilations in that series. New York Is Our Home is a favourite.
Billy Strings: So Much for Goodbyes
So Much For Goodbyes is also far and away Billy’s most diverse, multi-disciplined, and hard-to-pin-down album to date. Is there still plenty of straight bluegrass? Absolutely. Are there those spaced-out extended jams? Sure, but perhaps not as many as you would expect. There are also songs with steel guitar and drums. There’s also a couple of straight up Gospel tunes, and they’re good ones too. Also helping to make the album indefinable is how the first half or so was probably written before his mother’s passing, while the second half was written after.
I was intrigued by the title and cover. The Towering Inferno with Bongo Drums. I think it was @Rigsby21 who mentioned it above. Loving it! Psychedelic, jazz, world, funk with some wonderful rhythm.
Rush Farewell to Kings vinyl on Rega Naia.
Playing lots of stuff that no longer sounds a mess. Pretty amazing in fact.
Phil
I’d agree with that now I’ve had a chance to play both, a big thumbs up for the funky basslines.
