Now that’s what you call a piece of fish !
I like it with some white rice, habanero sauce and some belgian citrusy cold beer. Not easy to manage but…healing? ![]()
Enjoy!
Proper pork chops, from a decent butcher I would suggest.
I use a stand from an air fryer to get decent crackling.
Having the same with my own potatoes
and apple gravy
Beef and dumpling casserole with mash, cabbage and peas for dinner. First time Ben has been here for grub since he returned from the US just over a week ago. I was pleased it turned out so well, and mthe wine worked well.
Funny enough, I was going to do this a few days ago. A simple garlic, olive oil, fresh chilli, couple of fresh tomatoes and white wine. However, Waitrose wanted £18 per kg bag and they don’t split the bags. 1kg was just too much.
£18/Kg is just too much!! It’s much too much!!![]()
Pork chop cooked with thyme, rosemary and sage plus roasted Anya and cavalo nero from
my allotment. Cider, mustard and cream sauce with the pork. We had a Rioja with this
I’m losing faith in Waitrose. Their Duchy range rebrand is awful, with cheap looking packaging that looks more suited to personal hygiene products than a ‘premium’ food range. There seem to be more partners than customers in the aisles, and they all seem to be noisy slamming shut collapsible produce boxes or charging at you with wheeled racks to restock shelves - essentially the staff consider the floor space to be their right of way not the customer’s. Oh and no I don’t want to use self-checkout or a scanner when I have a large trolley full of food.
Local store is now being refurbished- ok they have temporary shelving in some places but why on earth have they moved everything around with no need - finding items a chore as they’re not where they used to be especially things which used to be on the same aisle now in different ones for no good reason I can see.
I really hope they don’t put those awful fresh chilled produce shelves with glass doors in but suspect they will.
Local Aldi changed to these months ago and it’s a real chore buying meat/deli/chilled stuff now - poor visibility of products, jostling with other customers to get to what you want without clashing doors. Really not fun so I shop in the one which hasn’t been ‘upgraded’ a little farther away. Might save them electricity but makes shopping for the same items frustrating and more time consuming.
Use to love Waitrose Côte de boeuf - expensive treat but delicious. It’s £58/kg currently (thought it was more a few months ago) but popping into Tesco more frequently recently I’m impressed by wider aisles, better lighting and considerably more variety than there used to be and in many cases excellent value too. Tesco Côte de boeuf was £34.95/kg yesterday - admittedly I’ve not tried it yet but some of their more premium range steaks have been great this year. No one seems to get in your way in Tesco either.
Sainsbury’s remains the most unpleasant shopping experience locally with entitled pushy shoppers who charge at you apace with trolleys as though their extras in a Ben Hur chariot race. Miserable staff who get grumpy if you want something form a shelf they’re restocking. Annoying shoppers who cannot respect personal space and thrust their hands in front of your face to grab something with no hint of an ‘excuse me could I just get that item while you’re deciding’. I really don’t like telling people to go forth and multiply over trivial things but always seem to do so in Sainsbury’s.
Rant over. Feel better now or maybe it’s the endorphin boost after some exercise!
