…audio world.
I asked it why Naim Audio was one of the best at producing sound.
G
What it has ‘learned’ from Naim’s website……
What did you expect?
You could try asking it what the relationship is now between Naim and Vervent if any……
I wasn’t expecting anything profound. Just interested to see how it would present the information.
Idle curiosity, really.

I always ask Chat GPT to state its sources when it provides a narrative… it can sometimes put a sense of perspective and be entertaining … certainly when it starts stating falsehoods or questionable responses… after all it is combining what it has trawled through on the web. It also makes you smile how it is programmed to balance out more subjective or controversial responses.
Critically, when you often delve deep down, it loops out and recommends you liaise with a specialist…
I agree Chat GPT is great for idle curiosity… and help with short cut look ups. I find it helpful when producing glossaries in documents.
The other thing I notice, there can be quite a delay of many many months before it incorporate new developments and legislatuon
As a bit of fun … I challenged ChatGPT on point 7 and it modified its response
Naim Audio, a British company renowned for its high-end audio equipment, primarily assembles its products in the UK, particularly at its headquarters in Salisbury, England. However, some components or specific products in the Naim lineup may be manufactured or assembled in China.
Historically, Naim’s Mu-so and Mu-so Qb wireless speaker systems have been known to be assembled in China. These products are part of Naim’s more accessible, lifestyle-oriented range, as opposed to their high-end separates like amplifiers and streamers, which are generally assembled in the UK.
Naim ensures that all of their products, regardless of where they are assembled, meet the company’s stringent quality standards. If you are looking for specific information on a product not mentioned here, checking the packaging, product manual, or contacting Naim directly might provide more precise details.
I then asked for the sources … and it looped out quickly
I don’t have the capability to browse the internet in real-time or retrieve live sources for specific information right now. However, the information I provided is based on general knowledge of Naim Audio’s production practices as of my last update.
For the most up-to-date details or confirmation on where specific Naim products are assembled, you could check directly with Naim Audio’s official website, product manuals, or reach out to their customer support team. Additionally, audio forums and retailer websites that specialize in high-end audio equipment may offer further insights and discussion on the topic.
So it looks like ChatGPT might use this forum as a source … God help it
We’re all doomed if everyone starts using this AI BS as a source of truth.
Exactly… and further it seems it might use this forum as one of it sources……
But to be fair to Chat GPT they advise against using it as a source of definitive fact.
We could try putting it into an endless loop until it has a meltdown
When I first used ChatGPT I tested it’s ‘even-handedness’ by asking the question ‘Why might Led Zeppelin be considered the greatest rock band of all time, despite plagiarising earlier blues musicians work?’
An opinion is not something one expects from ChatGPT. The blandness of the response was quite something.
G
Which goes to show it’s not actually intelligent per se
Other than marketing departments and the popular media, I don’t think anyone actually believes these software programmes are intelligent. They use very interesting and exceedingly clever algorithms, and can even self adapt, and can sift and analyze mind blowing amounts of content… but not I think intelligence…
But then we get into … what is intelligence anyway - and looking around some in the world I do start to wonder….
It’s fun… think of any significant rock band and ChatGPT suggests it might be the greatest rock band…
===
Whether Pink Floyd is the greatest rock band of all time is a matter of personal opinion, but they are certainly one of the most influential and revered bands in rock history. Here’s why some might consider Pink Floyd the greatest rock band:
Pink Floyd’s blend of musical innovation, conceptual depth, cultural impact, and artistic vision makes them a strong candidate for the title of the greatest rock band of all time. While opinions on the greatest band may vary, Pink Floyd’s contribution to rock music and their lasting legacy make them one of the most important and influential bands in history.
I do hope thats true, but suspect over time that will change
They are not intelligent, they are LLM’s. No artificial general intelligence exists at present. In any case, natural stupidity remains a far greater threat than artificial intelligence
absolutely
It might be said though, that the good application of intelligence requires conscience guidance by ethics and morality.
Indeed “stupidity” might be considered an ableist view, and that some with lower intelligence might act with better morality than some with higher intelligence
The use of the phrase ‘natural stupidity’ is simply a joke based on being the antithesis to ‘artificial intelligence’ and is nothing to do with any learning disability. It means the ability of alleged clever people such as politicians to do remarkably stupid things
Yes, I thought that was your use thanks. It was really the wider point of intelligence versus morality, which we obviously agree on, and is where I think the risk of AI lies.
Of course - but also vice versa.
