Yep made that mistake should have got a bottle earlier.
Not if you’re drinking it right. Hic
I have to say Mr Young is pretty awesome and Rocks as hard as anyone.
Yes agreed- he was awesome
Dylan not so !!!
The Necks are fantastic had a CD (Aquate) I’ve cherished for years, however I went looking for it the other day and can’t find it. Wasn’t aware they are still around.
Yesterday the Northsea Jazz Festival started. I thought I would be smart and walk over from my hotel, but after about 45 minutes walking in the light rain…, I challenged my choices…, while having a nice encounter …
Anyhow. The first start was with the Steve Gadd band. A nice laid back groove kind of sound. It always stayed a nice groove, not working with crazy rhythms or high tempo, but boy this did sound nice and accomplished…
I will by the way later publish some more pictures…, however my hotel has a rather poor connection to the internet.
2nd concert was the plus concert of the day with Dianne Krall. The volume of the overall concert was relatively low, but the band and her where in good form. She sung a combination of evergreens like love and got you under my skin. I by the way always have this feel that she has a kind of coolness to her singing… good concert, on the expected level…, with no surprises…
Then I moved to one of the highlights of the night, Rymden. The nice combination of Bugge Wesseltoft with the old rhythm section of e.s.t. It was musically a great experience, however had some frustrating experiences with people forcing me to sit down on the floor - so I could only see half of the concert while hearing the full concert, after finding a place.
It was a great experience, the groove the guys put onto the podium is not of this earth. I however also had a small point of critics. They have a tendency to play around with sound effects for too long…, happy when they then turn back to melody or groove…, go and see them…, hope they will continue in this formation…
Saw her a few years ago at SOH, great live gig.
Then moved to the absolute highlight of the evening. The Ben Wendel seasons quintet. Seldomly heard such a dense and still exciting quintet playing. All members of the quintet are masters of their art, but combined they are magically. I hope he will release a live recording of this quintet.
Last one of the evening was Nick Bartsch Ronin. Meditative, but still variable enough to be very interesting. The one point was that i was already quite tired, and listening to this music is then a bit more challenging. But interesting and nice…
Can’t upload the video and only have photos on my camera, so will upload something later.
As it’s a festival I also missed a couple of things which I would have loved to see as well like Rag’n Bone Man, Joe Jackson, James Brandon Lewis…, But was happy with the choices I made…
Neil Young and Bob Dylan - Hyde Park - 12th July 2019
I was really lucky being up close and with great sound balance.
Neil was, of course, excellent but the big surprise to me was Bob who was clear and even rocked out at times. I even saw him smile a few times but still no recognition of, or interaction with, the audience.
I could imagine a different experience would be had if I was way back.
I have been seeing these guys for over 45 years now and a fan for even longer. I loved every minute of both Neil’s and Bob’s sets:

7th June - to the Balham Bowls Club in deepest south-west London, to see Ese and her Vooduu People perform a storming set to a Friday night crowd. Much signing of LPs and CDs afterwards, plus a long boozy party afterwards ![]()
I also went to The Who - Moving On gig at Wembley - saw them there 29 years ago and at Charlton Athletic 18 May ‘74. Still a great set and the addition of the orchestra for part of the concert makes a different angle - 2+ hours on stage too.
The Kaiser Chiefs were the best of the support acts.
Miss Welch and her machine at Hyde park. Usual fantastic voice, great night. The national were great before as well. Some decent stuff played throughout the day.
Neil’s set list sounds fantastic, saw him in a few years ago in Sydney and all he played was electric noise. Very disappointing. ![]()
You say that like it’s a bad thing…
It was, unfortunately it was about the time of Psychedelic Pill and Le Noise. I’d never seen him before and was looking forward to some of the classics, but all we got was noise. I and most of the crowd were extremely disappointed.
