May have missed out on a £40 voucher on a new Apple Watch, but actually saved quite a lot as the new ones don’t work with current iPhone!
Old Apple Watch is buggered btw after I dropped and smashed the display.
Do I need a new air fryer, electric toothbrush, cordless vacuum every year???
There are undoubtedly some good deals if you need them but my scepticism is growing.
Just ordered £50 of Qobuz coins to offer a bit of support and get an extra £5 worth - a good deal I think as I can foresee a time when I’ll pack in audio streaming services.
Maybe a new Paramount+subscription using a different email, but can I really be bothered???
One I missed summed up by Drat! in another thread unless it was just a website update.
Audirvana is far better value for me - they had a good 2 years deal again (took it last year).
The biggest problem I think is knowing what you want when discounted - a few years ago there were genuine bargains on Amazon etc, these days they seem little different to normal prices.
Yeah, there are so many promotions now, it’s crazy to buy anything outside a sale apart from the basics. The store I got the record from pretty much has a 20% sale on records and blurays/4K movies every holiday weekend plus BF/CM, so I just wait for the sales.
I run a Flight simulator for fun in VR and while my RX6800XT graphics card is fairly powerful it’s certainly a long way behind the best nowadays.
I spotted a fantastic deal on the AMD RX7900XTX reduced to about £660 which is perhaps 50% faster than my current graphics card but I spent so long pondering over the weekend that the deal has now finished and it is back up to around £760 again now.
My hesitance was largely based on the fact that I have the SME Model 35 turntable coming this week, so I’m going to have to buy a cartridge for that which won’t be cheap because I’m keeping the GyroDec and don’t really want to remove the Lyra Kleos SL from it to put it on the SME.
Frontrunners include the AT ART 20, another Kleos SL, the Excel Etsuro Urushi Cobalt blue which I’m reviewing soon and maybe one of these days I should investigate Koetsu.
On balance the cartridge is a near essential purchase, while the graphics card was a nice to have so I probably have made the sensible decision…
Still, it’s a lot of fun carving up the valleys of the Lake District in an F15 in VR while sitting in my home built rig…
We saved 40% on some Denby pasta bowls at John Lewis, and I got a good saving on Clinique moisturiser and charcoal face wash. Other than that, nothing.
Nothing exciting: Prestone screenwash, Regina Blitz kitchen towels, Centrum Advance 50+ tablets , deodorant, and some Spintone LP inner sleeves. Basically, all stuff I’ve bought in the past and use.
I bought a new pair of walking boots (Inov8 Roklite Max Mid GTX), at very good price.
Also a Litelok X1 Plus cycle lock a large, heavy, very expensive shackle lock, but one that is highly resistant to even angle grinder attacks, for piece of mind and insurance certainty when taking a pair of e-bikes, one very expensive, when campervan touring including parking with bikes on the back at motorway services, and leaving after cycling into city centres etc. Although the BF deal was only 7.5% of cost, it triggered the time to buy.
Never look for “bargains” anywhere. I’ve a list things I want or need and when I want or need them I buy them. If a birthday or Christmas is near then others are offered the opportunity to not have to think too hard about my gift. Long ago calculated that the time looking for “bargains” far exceeded the number of real bargains and the time itself was better spent doing something far more enjoyable.
