I think we’ve had a thread on this before, but I alternate between:
Farina 1709. The original Eau de Cologne. Citrusy, lovely. Fragonard L’Aventurier. On a tour of the factory in Grasse, Mrs Ebor approved of this.
Trumper’s Portugal. Again, Mrs Ebor’s selection.
So, there you go. The best of Germany, France and England.
I always sample a few in Duty Free when I get the chance, to see what I’m missing. To be brutally honest, even the most expensive end up smelling like failed chemistry experiments or tomcats. That’s why I stick to the possibly less well-known above.

L’Eau du Caporal by l’Artisan Parfumeur was my long term choice, but they discontinued it decades ago. It was briefly revived a while back, in a somewhat blander formulation, then discontinued again. I used to find the odd sealed bottle on eBay once or twice a year, but even they’ve disappeared, and I’ve never tried anything I like half as much.
Care to elaborate?

Clinique Happy
I must try that, as Clinique stuff is really good. My Terre D’Hermès has nearly run out and Mrs HH has declared that she has never really liked it.
