One of the best albums of the 1980s gets the “definitive” treatment in October. One LP, two CDs, two DVDs, an embarrasment of riches when it comes to unreleased (at least legitimately) stuff.

Exciting news! A deluxe edition of my favourite Lou Reed album, New York, is being released on 25 September. It seems to be a 3CD / DVD / 2LP release with lots of extras. More details are on the Rhino website.

I got an e-mail from Soft Machine this morning saying amongst other things that they are going back into the recording studio in December. So, that will be a release to look forward to in the spring.

It seems as if the Lou Reed New York boxset comes as a complete package, with the LPs and the CDs, which isn’t a problem if (like me) you use both formats, but if you just wanted the CDs is perhaps a bit of a problem. Maybe they will be released individually at a later date.
I have both (well I’ll rip the silver discs for the streamers), the cassette however I may need to find someone with a Nak.
Just pre-ordered the new Pineapple Thief, Yello, Tim Bowness and Blackfield albums. Looking forward to them all over the next couple of months

Blue Note reimagined. Jury still out on this forthcoming release, available on cd and vinyl. Certainly got me interested.

Lou Reed. New York box set. Just been playing my original vinyl which clocks in at 58 mins. If I’m not mistaken the box will have the vinyl split over 2 discs. Plus the album on single cd. Then 2 bonus cds and a dvd with hardback book. The extras will have to be really good to make me buy it yet again.
