Some happy memories in this thread. Can I also add ‘The Aeronauts’ which was something like ‘Les Chevaliers du Ciel’ in the original French. I’m thinking of the original theme and also the Johnny Halliday theme ‘Le ciel nous fait rever’ with apologies to French Rooster for missing the circonflex.

No matter how much you try who can forget the inimitable Midsomer Murders theme tune.

Used to laugh like drains at the adverts. Now I find myself thinking Hmmm could get me one of those Riser Recliners. Also caught Lady BC shamefacedly looking at a brochure for the Viking River Cruises Douro offering

Somebody had to do it … I suppose.

Shoot me now.

In fact all of the BBC Sports Themes are pretty excellent, and there’s even an album (which sadly is not on Tidal).

Taggart, mainly the closing theme.

A theme tune from a different angle: when I used to run a rock disco my theme tune was Suppé’s Light Cavalry overture:
Of all overtures it is one that really makes me feel it is leading into something:

One of my favourite first pieces of music to follow it was Gillan’s Secret of the Dance, with thunderflashes on the first beat.
