Can’t beat Grange Hill.
Now there is a classic. Still love Merlin though
There’s a current thread on this subject - was this supposed to be added to it? @Richard.Dane it may be worth considering merging?
It appears to be so. I’ve merged it with the main thread.
It took me ages to find out who sang this … don’t know why but I tracked it down eventually: Johnny Flynn and The Sussex Wit on Live at the Roundhouse.
The prisoner is my all time favourite but UFO is also good. Both are downloaded and on my playlists.
CSI Miami - outstanding Who track!
Which brings to mind one of the best known themes in American TV history (at least for us old fogeys).
What!! It was written by an Italian!!?? For an opera!!!???!!!
Has to be Panarama for me, got me into the band
The CSI contract gave Townshend a welcomed income and still does.
All three tracks ( WGFA, BA and WAY) formed the bulk of The Who’s unforgettable and show stealing performance at the Concert For New York, in support of the families of the victims of 9/11.
That performance was easily on par with Queen at Live Aid, possibly better.
John Entwistle’s last public performance…he was on fire that night. Catch it if you can on YT…and with headphones.
The band ?
Back when I was 9 or so, on Saturday night, my dad would always get a taxi from his local to the Indian Take Away in town, bring home two curries, one for himself and one for my mum.
My mum was never really that hungry at midnight and always left some or sometimes never even started hers. Suffice to say my three sisters and I hung around like a hungry wolf pack picking odd what was left.
At the same time, Hammer was always on around this time……nostalgia.
Ignore me, it was Weekend World and not Panorama although I did like that theme tune too!
I bet if you asked most people they’d say it was Panorama.
We’ve been rewatching these with our ‘kids’. Lololol. The most iconic ones are where the story just runs out so they simply blow-up the set!
