AV1 - or AVD-1 - ?
The pictures I could find on the Net, show AVD-1 on the rear panel.
It’s generally referred to as the AV1 although, as the picture shows, the proper name was NA AVD1.
Do you have a plan to use it?
Yes, I hope to do so at some point, even if just to satisfy my curiosity. It will need some organisation though to make space for the extra kit,
It certainly is worth the money, I see you have a SN3, well, I have a SN2 and the improvement on the front end is also making the amp shine. Funny things these power supplies.
Nice! I have had S40s for the past four years and love 'em! Really nice finish on those ones you have.
I was always intrigued by the idea of the dynavector superstereo box, but never went as far as trying one. What it promised to do in terms of creating an airy, three dimensional soundstaging was very attractive to me, but maybe I was too conventionally stereo in my thinking to try it. I’d love to hear how you get on Richard.
Initial findings is it lowers the noise floor somehow and give a bigger, wider and deeper presentation.
Much better PRaT and much more engaging streaming experience.
Only downside is it can be a bit bright and edgy with some recordings. Hopefully that’s just because the cables are right out of the box.
Thanks for your thoughts @Toon. Cannot wait to get mine installed now. Have been waiting for about 5 weeks since placing my order. Hopefully the will not be much longer🤞
I remember the AV1 from a Naim active evening with 6-pack 135 active DBLs on the front and active SBLs on the rear. Setting it all up with Dougie was a pain.
The outcome was mainly just very loud. I think I lent them my Laserdisc player for the dem.
What did you have before?
Chord Ultima Pre 3, Chord Ultima 5 power amp and a matching stand for the DAVE. I’m truly impressed.
Looks very nice in a Tardis interior sort of way.
Thanks bruss, a little Marmite, for sure! I really like the look, very different to my Olive collection though.
I hate the styling of the small Chord Dacs, however the stacks look great and sound superb, unforgiving in the sound department when it comes to crap recordings, but they do everything else perfectly. Nearly went in the direction of chord before I heard the Exposure MCX.
These arrived today. We are getting a new fireplace, so I needed new speaker leads, as the old KS1s weren’t long enough. As the right hand speaker is much closer to the Nova than the left hand one, I’ve gone for different lengths, 5.5m and 2.75m. OMFG.
Heresy! HERESY!
Burn him for a WITCH!!
The authorities have been notified, he should be getting a knock on the door with a written warning sometime between now and midnight.
His amp will have blown up before then. That is what we were always told would happen.
