I just ordered the Pro-Ject CD Box DS2T CD transport to connect to my Burson Conductor 3X Performance headphone amplifier. It will arrive in 2025, so good start of the year It’s actually a temporary solution, because my Naim CD5si is broken. Maybe I will have that one repaired or replaced later in the year.
First purchase of the year.. A new Rega P8. It ended up being a black one.. and with a better power supply.
A pair of ATC SCM40s in satin black. 3 yr old @£2.1k.
Just picked up a pair of KEF LSX 2 LT’s for my computer setup. Sound pretty good for a small desktop speaker and I think they look great as well.
Why another gear of 2025?
I’ve merged with the existing thread.
What has happened to your CD 5si? Mine has stopped recognizing the CDs - the double dash “- -“ is blinking on the display, the CD spins forever but the player does not recognize it. Went to the repair shop at the end of 2024.
I used to hear a soft ‘klonk’ sound after inserting a CD into the CD5si. After that sound, the CD was ready to play. Probably due to positioning of the laser. Now I do n’t hear that anymore and see the ‘blinking dashes’ and than sometimes ‘Err’. Very annoying after 5 years.
Hmmmm……. It’s beginning to look as if CDP’s are not going to be 2025’s best buy.
I’m sure there’ll be some manufacturers soldiering on but they’ll become fewer as time goes by (see what I did there ), probably leaving only the very high end CD/SACD players.
Pity really as there’s something quite therapeutic about spinning a disc.

Put a cheeky offer of £125 in for this very nice USB cable and had it accepted…not bad given it retails for 5-6 times that. The power and audio cables are separated to reduce noise.
I’m back at work today from home and so I have some music on in the background. I would now say that all my SL cables are burned in and definitely my first two Acrolink/Furutech/SR mains cables. Things are sounding very nice and I am getting a lot more detail. Another 300 odd hours to go and the final mains cable should also be there!
Looking good. I have a blue pair of the LSX IIs in my kitchen mounted on the walls and they sound fantastic. Great sound for a small pair of speakers.
Funny that I had a pair of the LS50 Metas and didn’t like them much when compared to my regular Falcons and Proacs but I’m happy with the LSX2 when using them on the desk.
Edit: However, it can’t be played because the tonearm lift is not lowered enough for the tonearm to reach the record… Sigh, thought Rega had better quality control than that
Rega has the worst quality control. Have had 4 tables. New. Problems with them all. No more Rega for me.
Isn’t there adjustment for that? I have never owned a Rega arm, but my old Tabriz allowed the barrel of the lift to be moved up and down after loosening a grub screw. Some adjustment should be possible to account for different cartridge heights even if the arm itself doesn’t have any built in. Just guessing though, though I did look through both the TT and arm manual to check to see if Rega issued instructions Hope you get it sorted quickly
Ok, entirely my fault for not reading the description but really wasn’t expecting an RCA coupler to be sold singularly, and the packaging from Audioquest felt incredibly smug rubbing it in.
Sat there staring at the single coupler and hoping there was another one underneath whilst really knowing it ships as a single.
Another single one ordered to get to a pair…
Yes, the height can be adjusted on the P8 by the grub screw beneath the arm rail.
