What was the last bit of gear you bought in 2026?

Machined Radikal 2 Utopik ML upgrade.
Keel SE for the fruit box. :+1:

It’s always your fault if somebody buys Nordost :joy: Naim and Nordost work very well together, PRaT always improves for me. And both speed and attack are so good too! I’m glad @Dan_M is enjoying the Freys already, but it’ll take at least a couple of weeks before the cable sounds the best.

I am very grateful to your suggestion if £1012 poorer.

Thanks for raiding my bank account!

But seriously, they are great cables! Thank you @naimophile

I have absolutely no idea what any of that means!

It’s a new power supply upgrade for my LP12 and a new top of the range sub chassis for the LP12.

It means insanely overpriced Linn LP12 ā€œupgradesā€ that provide little to no audible benefits, but fortunately your dealer will tell you in advance about all the massive improvements you should be hearing at no extra charge.

You forgot the reduction in inheritance tax you will pay when you pop off.

Don’t knock until you try it and it also stops another box becoming obsolete.

I got my last level of the Naim fraim. Looks very nice.

Also added the silent angel Forester F1 and Bonn N8. Also with a small white cable for connecting.

Oooh. Now I do like that! Congrats.

Your system with four full fraim looks great. Have you had good results with the Silent Angel Bonn (+ Forester F1) paired with the white Bastei DC cable? I use the same combination with the orange Bastei cable. For me, a good power cable on the Forester made a big difference. It’s worth a try.

Hi Wilfried,

Many thanks for your compliment. I did not notice a huge differance. But I was not able to listen relaxed. Maybe this weekend. But it does not sound bad. And yes maybe even better. What I do like that it looks very tidy and clean. Less cabels and so on. I use a Belden home made powercord. May in the future I will make a step up. But not now.

Question: I am not stacking the N8 on the F1, because normally it is adviced to keep the supply away. How did you positioned the silent angel? Stacking or not.

Inspired by @deadloss and @Bevo ’s beautiful LP12 Simplinths, I’ve joined the owner’s club with a quilted maple plinth of my own. Supplied and fitted by Peter at Cymbiosis, I’m very happy with the outcome.

Looking beautiful @Homeworks I thought that was my LP12 for a moment :joy:

Two minor, but important things.

- A new drive belt for the Feickert Woodpecker.

- I also picked up a strobe light and stroboscope disc to check the rotation speed of the turntable properly.

I very much like the Zeta, it matches the LP so well. Better than the Linn arms in my opinion.

Hi @Chielhierpuntnl thanks for the feedback. I set up the Silent Angel Bonn N8 and the Forester N1 power supply side by side on a Fraim shelf. I haven’t tried stacking them. But I think placing them side by side is a good solution. I also get the impression that the Fraim supports this setup well.
Silent Angel also offers dedicated decoupling feet, but I haven’t tried those either. I think I’d give them a try if I had to set up the switch and power supply outside of a hi-fi rack. But I had a Fraim shelf available.

So,

In terms of cost, I paid £2900 for a used SA10 Marantz, I am using Naim powerline and hoe the Nordost Frey 2., which cost £1012.

I have a cheap digital cable I am using as transport into ND555. The Chord Epic BNC to RCA with going to 3 stacks is not long enough!

Nordost Valhalla 2 is aroumd £6k new. I think I will give it a miss! No doubt it will yield massive improvements. However, might be better to upgrade the SA10 beforehand.

As I am using the SA10 analogue as it gives a different sound signature to the ND555, I think I am maxed out on it now. And thank you for your advice on the Frey 2 interconnects.

The SA10 is now a resolved source in itself. So with ND555 and 2 x 555PSDRs and Linn LP12 Klimax I have enough to play around with. Also have also my CDs ripped to Zoneripper NAS and great switches and cables.

What more does a man need?
