When the PSU upgrade option is used with the Naim DAC, power supply separation is further increased by the use of a dedicated supply for the master clock circuits. It also provides a bigger toroidal transformer and bigger reservoir capacitors, and the DSP remains powered from the Naim DAC transformer to give even more separation from the analogue section.

From the DAC white paper.

Yes, one of the options I have keeping my Nait 50 in the TV system ( and it is a super amp) or downsizing the system to an Atom .
The Nait 50 will become a headphone amp and a phono stage only in the audio room cum Man Cave ( also where I will keep the wine fridge)
They did miss a trick when they made the Nait 50 such a hair shirt product.
But it does produce a wonderful sound and is very tactile

Stack Audio Auva Platform

Just installed it. Built like an absolute tank. Haven’t listened to anything on my DAC yet to give an impression but hoping for a positive result.

The Meridian 5.1 surround system has been ā€œerraticā€ for a couple of years, so we’ve started the replacement/upgrade(?) process with this:

G68J surround controller
Next on the list is the repair/replacement of the centre (digital input, active) speaker DSP5000C, which is not producing any sound, even though it’s quite happy passing the bitstream onwards to the sub, which is daisy-chained off the centre.

The fact that the orange ā€œclipping/overloadā€ LED is almost permanently lit may give some clue to where the may fault lie - in the analogue part, so hopefully fixable. The digital IO ports & control side appears to be OK.

I foresee a trip looming to the Cambridge area…….

We are currently moving so I have the Mu So plonked on top of a stack of dismantled flat pack furniture close to the wall after changing the setting to 25cm in the app which cured the slight bass boom and it’s sounding superb.

I have to say I’m really impressed even without proper placement it sounds fantastic from memory it is the first system I’ve owned that can go full throttle on the beautiful weighted dial and not fall apart.

Vibrapod model 2 or 3 are rarer than Hen’s teeth Amazon do have some but I can’t get a 100% confirmation that they are not model 1 or 5 but until I find some I have a big bag of 50-70 duro sorbathane feet to mess about with I also have a couple of well sheilded power leads to try.

Ā£350 and I could easily live with it day to day and best of all my other half is very happy with it, the looks, the sound and even the app got the thumbs up. The Nait 3, Dynaudios, Record Player and all of my records will be relegated to a spare room where I can spend many a happy hour (at the boss’ discretion of course) being a teenager all over again.

@Wilfried I’ve posted in the past a breakdown of the NDAC power management. Feel free to take a look:

Thank you. The nDac uses a hybrid approach. The DSP, as a key component of the digital section, is always powered by the internal power supply, even when an external power supply is used.

Replaced my Trilogy 906 phono pre with a Gold Note PH 10 PSU 10. Great upgrade really showing that the Trilogy was holding back the range and power of the Lyra Kleos.

Brilliant service as ever from Andy at Signals including keeping their demo kit whist the new boxes were held up in customs.

That’s a nice set up. Have you ever tried out one of the Gold Note cd players?

I wonder if the sonic signature is similar..?

Thanks J - not yet, happy to keep the Meridian until it fails, but would consider the Gold Note as design and build quality is impressive. I would assume the range is similarly tuned.

I don’t need one but still want one!

Cd5 sounded great, I assume 5.2 may be marginally better…

That’s the plan, although not in a rush. 332 bare warming up and starting to really flex on the previous 282xSuperCapDR
