All of the above, Nigel, though, (IMHO), getting your 552 DR’d and serviced is where I’d go first … after all, you’ve regularly said how much you enjoy the sound of your Monitors, so keep them so that you can best assess the newly arrived 500DR.
Maybe next, a second stack of (pre-loved?) Fraim, with a couple of medium or tall levels to accommodate the 500.
It’s deffo always best to do one step at a time, to see what uplift each component brings, though the cost of the upgrades at this level generally means that that problem is taken care of … well, certainly in my case it was!
The second power supply and posh switch can wait, unless you manage to capture an irresistible bargain, as I did lately with a Silent Angel switch and linear power supply from my dealer.
No carpet spikes here. Mine sits on tiled concrete floor. The Gaias are indispensable in my system and I hope they are an improvement in your system as well.
I would echo Dave’s thoughts…….go for the second fraim first with the tall or medium legs to give more air……obviously needs to match up with the other stack. Sit back and enjoy the 500 whilst pondering the rest of your list.
Congratulations @NigelB — cracking purchase! Certainly your system is way above my pay grade, and my listening experience at your level is limited. But I feel that new speakers would be most transformational. I am not questioning the quality of your speakers, but surely they hold back your system more than, say, your current Fraim. Nothing wrong with tweaking before the new speakers arrive, but isn’t life too short for tweaking when transformation is within reach?
FWIW, when I heard Kudos Titan — the 707 — I thought BLIMEY, they were awesome… There is a pair available in the fishy place, but you might have your eyes on the 808…
I pretty much agree with that order, except I’d put the speakers last. I’m not a massive Kudos fan either, not having been impressed with the way they time and handle instrumental texture or bass, but the most recent models I’ve heard were the S20 and original Titans, I’ve not heard any of the latest generation Titans.
Audimaxim Serenade 6.2 loudspeakers. Caught my eyes and ears at an audio show and I bought the demo pair. Front- and rear-firing units. A gust of a totally new wind.
