What was the last bit of gear you bought?

I bought them directly from Isoblue since they aren’t sold here.

Three things recently delivered by Audio T, a Power-line, a Chord Shawline and my CDX2 returned from a service and change to digital output .
Finally managed to connect two of them (it’s a long story - but the Powerline is back with Audio T) , the serviced CDx2 and the Shawline digital interconnect to my Nova.

Sublime , rather like Mike Hughes I discovered that with separates , if one item is not “feeling well” it can be problematic for the rest of the system.

I thought the reason why the Nova was a little below what I expected was because I was expecting too much of it.

In fact it was that the CDx2 had become rather tired after 20 years service and needed a trip to Salisbury to make it better.

When I finally get my Power-line issues resolved , I will be close to my long term project of downsizing but still getting a really good sound.

I can’t see a copy of ‘Upgrading for dummies’ on the bookshelf?

One looks like a HiCap DR and the other one a XPS DR or 555 PSU?:face_with_monocle:

That’s easy…

  1. Walk into Dealer
  2. Read 2nd hand clearance list on wall.
  3. See item you know is next on upgrade list.
  4. Mentally say “Oh s**t” to oneself in a resigned manner.
  5. Have internal mental battle.
  6. Give in to inevitable!

One out of two…. :sunglasses:

My setup is in storage at the moment. I did not recall having any hum from my Rega RP6/Exact. However, I do have an aftermarket LPS for the speed change. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Just bought a used Supercap DR to replace the HiCap DR on my Superline. The upside is the vinyl front end, which I thought was pretty darn good, has taken a leap in performance. The downside is there’s now no room in the racks for my NAT05 :sob:

Must be HiCapDR and 282/NAPSC.

You are upgrading to a 252?

You just nipped out for a pint of milk and next thing you knew…?

I like the discreet ‘Plain brown packaging’. Wouldn’t want to arouse suspicion.

Somehow a NAP 250 DR and HICAP DR have found there way into the system. Experimenting for now with my old HICAP 2 as the “2nd upgrade”.

How do these things happen?

NAP 250 DR and HICAP DR. Nicely balanced system now.

Very nice.

I never tried my 282 with 2 HiCaps but I did switch from one HiCap (non DR) to SuperCapDR, and that was a significant upgrade. Might you have the possibility to compare 2 x HiCapDR to SuperCapDR on your 282. You could save a little by trading in your HiCap against a (pre loved?) SuperCapDR.

It’s never acceptable to send pets through the post. I don’t even see breathing holes. I’m dissapointed. It would have been better to have bought a 250 and HCdr instead

All in good time. Got offered a good package deal to help empty my dealers pre-owned stock room! Next upgrade would be the XPR for the NDX2. In the mean time, and certainly for the room I have it in, I have a wonderful system to listen to and fully enjoy. :sunglasses:

Well thank god then! :joy:

You really should have matching Hicaps, as they are each powering one channel. I’m not sure a DR and non-DR are ideal.
