Love the XTC. That’s probably my favourite of their albums.
The new Trashcans is great too. Such a shame about John Douglas.

Homespun… I love Apple Venus as well, although my other half detests it. The repeating rhythms etc in use really grate on her!
I’m really surprised they haven’t given it the Steve Wilson treatment as they must have the multi-tracks. I’d buy it in an instant!

All The Stones releases distributed by Polydor should be avoided if possible as they are mastered incredibly loud. Of course that can’t be helped for recent remixes of classic albums. But if an album can be found on either CBS or Virgin, the mastering is far more sympathetic I find.

@Ian_S and Pete: My wife is a big fan of Apple Venus Vol 1 (AV2, not so much). Honestly, I love all their albums, and the Fuzzy Warbles stuff.

Agreed, the album’s from Sticky Fingers through to and including A Bigger Bang on either CBS or Virgin are pretty good. Anything released after ABB, the back catalogue, or an archival release on Polydor are ear bleeders! Such a shame.

The latest haul - the top four of the stack from The Sound Bar in Skipton during a holiday break. A record store IN a pub. What’s not to like?
The rest from one of my local s/h stores in Leicester - the slightly chaotic Beat Route Records*. You have to crate dig to an unprecedented degree, but gems are to be found if you are patient/methodical.
* it’s obligatory to have a pun-laden shop name, it would seem..

That album was recommended by Qobuz a month or so ago. I kept returning to it so I bought the CD. A gem.

The Sound Bar is my go to local record shop. They also have some great live music on Fridays and Sundays.

I thought it was fantastic, and the beer was pretty good, too! I saw the staging, but sadly it was earlier in the week, so no live music. You’re lucky to have that as your local (record store).
