You sure that’s not James May?
Trevor Horn, together with Lol Creme (10cc) and a cast of 13 other musicians, rock Newcastle City Hall, 18th November. A fab collection of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s tunes from the Horn and Creme songbooks.
Sweet rock Gateshead’s Glasshouse, 19th November. Only Andy Scott from the early 70’s heyday, but a brilliant set of tunes ranging from chart friendly pop through to near heavy metal. Rocktastic throughout and supported by the bound-to-be-big-soon Bobbie Dazzle. Excellent from start to finish.
He also opened for Trevor Horn in Newcastle on 18th Nov. A thoroughly enjoyable set from an engaging chap who I’d not paid much notice to before.
I bet that was great!!
Certainly was matey.

A couple of pre Christmas gigs over the weekend
Trevor Horn Band at the o2 Ritz in Manchester. Really enjoyed this - lots of big 80s songs originally produced by Trevor, and a number of songs from bandmate Lol Creme’s songbook.
Steve Hogarth at the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral Crypt Hall. Fourth time seeing one of his h natural shows at this venue - he’s made some changes to the show this year, using more percussion loops and tracks as opposed to most being solo piano. Some great setlist choices too!
Mumford and Sons in Milan, late November. My first time seeing them, fantastic gig, great show and stage lightning.
Where was the venue?
Looks like the Stadtcasino in Basel Switzerland , but a long time since I was there.
That’s right, the concert was in the Stadtcasino Basel, performed by the Symphony Orchestra of Basel
Wasn’t it Peter and the Test Tube Babies? What happened to Peter?
Peter is still singing/ shouting- call it what you like
When they first came out I only ever heard them being called the Test Tube Babies so that’s kind of stuck
The gigs are a truly raucous affair, especially compared to others shown here
Unfortunately during one of these raucous moments a lad managed to crack is head open and knocked himself unconscious and was rushed to hospital
Lyndon
I photographed them for Sounds one time, who may well have added the Peter part. Sounds like not a lot has changed. A decent bunch as I recall.
Julius Asal at the Wigmore Hall in London for the Monday lunchtime recital which was also aired on R3. He is a young, German pianist who is one of R3’s New Generation Artists. He is a fine young musician who should go far. There is always something rather special about getting lost in such dreamy and hypnotic music on a Monday lunchtime
Bath Jazz Weekend coming up this weekend at the Widcombe Social Club. Hopefully things will have thawed out a bit by then - looking forward to seeing the groups led by Elliott Galvin and Rebecca Nash.
