What was the last concert / gig you attended?

Last one of the season in Bamberg. Christian Thielemans with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerische Rundfunk…, with Bruckner 5….

Was a great evening and a good desert on the season….

I bet it was. :+1: Thielemann’s Bruckner is just excellent on live and on his latest Sony recording with ViennaPhil.

Iron Maiden

Sorry to any of their fans but I know now why I’d never really bothered with them in the past - poor sound is to be expected but they took it to another level. I love plenty of volume but they were way too loud and there were so many times they completely lost their way ….

Lord of the Lost - the support band - were better and their sound was not brilliant either!

Buddy Guy last week lost his way several times. Probably for the same reason. The gig is more for the nostalgia. Buddy’s guitar was also turned up too loud which, since he was let’s say less than fluent, distracted from his vocals. But then he is nearly 87. There’s others too. Keef comes to mind. But I would still spend my money on these guys rather than many of the artists (loosely named) of today.

Kiss at the o2 London. Never been a fan of their music but always wanted to see their stage show. Surprisingly the sound was good and what a show they put on.
Out of the whole set there was only one track I didn’t know, probably because my daughter has been playing them to death recently.
The banter between Paul Stanley and the crowd made it feel they were playing just for you.

Was there too Steve. Not the best musicians (the solos !), but can’t think of a better stadium show/band. They know how to do it.

Detroit Rock City was awesome !

Judging by the angle of your photos, don’t think I was a million miles away from you

Definitely in the same area. First gig I’ve stood for in years. Feel like an elephant trampled all over me today. Luckily seated for Maiden tomorrow.
Think I’m just too old. Remember the days of going to work the day after a gig

Saw them at Wembley Arena back in 1982.
They put on a great show and were still in their prime. Vinnie Vincent was the guitarist on that tour and his solos were quite amazing…!

I was at that one too, the tank tour ? Might have been 83. My poor old dad drove a young me all the way up from Brighton, and then spent the evening just sitting in the car in the car park at Wembley. What a dad !

It may well have been ‘83 and yes the “Tank” was great fun especially for Eric Carr, who looked like he was living his best life up there…
Gene climbing the speaker stacks and “Rocking Out” was pretty cool as well🤘🏼
Edit
Just looked it up, it was 23rd October 1983😊

saw them back in the 70s in Japan. I was not even a fan but wanted to see the show. They sure did not disappoint with all that pyrotechnics and blood! :heavy_heart_exclamation:  :fire:
Sound? My ears were ringing for hours afterwards. I am too old for this type of stadium rock now.

P.S. I just looked at the program. It was 1977 Japan tour.

Really looking forward to Hollywood Vampires on Tuesday night in Birmingham.
Annoyed at missing Maiden Tuesday just gone, but life throws curve balls from time to time.
Hopefully we’ll get one more chance to see them before they call it a day🤞🏼

Springsteen Hyde Park last night. My first Springsteen concert. I now know why he is so revered. Epic.

Soft Cell were great but it was sad to see Dave Ball in a wheelchair and not looking well at all

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Terrific gig particularly the reworking of Zeppelin classics in rockabilly and bluegrass style. Rock and roll, Battle of Evermore, levee breaks were epic. Plant’s voice sounded fine. One to remember.

Toni Kofi’s Adderley Bros 1969-75 Tribute band, Inside Straight, at Swanage Jazz Festival last night, with Dennis Rollins. Fine concert, nice to hear fender rhodes with mini-moog again in a jazz context.
