What Was The Last Vinyl You Bought?

Thomas Dolby - The Flat Earth.

Ok, I’ll come clean, it’s not the last vinyl I bought, and I’ve already got two copies on vinyl, including the one I bought while at school back when it was first released. However, I did buy this example fairly recently and I’m only now giving it a play. The obvious question; Why did I buy yet another copy?? Well, it’s a great album, it also sounds great (a favourite of Naim’s brand ambassador JG, as well as a certain Leicester based Naim dealer, who, IIRC habitually uses this album for testing Lp12 setup). Yes, I already had two copies, but my original was hard played at school, and was played many times on my radio show back in the day, so was perhaps past its best, although still sounding really good. The other copy I have came with a bunch of TD promo 12" discs and had obviously lived a similarly hard life, albeit still sounding great. This one though was supposedly pampered and only played a few times. It’s in mint condition and does play very well indeed…

The only TD I have purely for I scare myself. Great track. I also have the 12 inch single with two tracks on the B side.

Gary Numan with The Skaparis Orchestra - When The Sky Came Down (Live at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester)

This is beautifully packaged and I love the coloured vinyl. I was fortunate to find a copy below the inflated price now they’re becoming scarce.

Any comments on sound.

Diana Krall - Only Trust Your Heart, Verve (2024)

First released in 1995 on CD and before now never released on vinyl originally mastered by Doug Sax and remastered by Bernie Grundman so it sounds very good.

An excellent band featuring Christian McBride, Ray Brown and the excellent Stanley Turrentine. Not one for the real serious Jazz fans of course but for the est of us a very classy recording.

After your last batch of purchases, I was going to recommend Royal Flush - now I see that I didn’t need to! One of his best, so I hope all is good with the pressing. :+1:
