Forgive the naive questions but I am new to this! Any idea what type of cable this is and what it is used for? 5 pin to 4 pin
are you sure it’s not a DIN4 to DIN5? It’s usually used where you have a phono stage such as a Superline being powered by a dedicated power supply and the 4-5 takes signal from the PS into the pre-amp.

That has to be what it is, a 4 to 5 Hiline. Two of the pins at the 5 end look very close together, as though one is a bit bent. Maybe it’s just the angle.
