I’m very surprised at how little difference there is. If any.
For me the test was to unplug my Ethernet connection after say 30-45 seconds of listening because after that IIRC the track is buffered in memory. Same thing with WiFi etc. I’ve been using a hybrid approach for the last year with my Eero pro Mesh network. Wifi throughout the house and using the RJ45 port on the back of one of my Eero’s to my EE8 Switch.
Wait a week and then switch them back again, Stephen then let us know the result.
With these relatively minor improvements, e.g. with Internet switches, it often seems like not much is missing at first when you take them out, but then they can make a noticeable improvement when you put them back in sometimes
Just got an eero network installed and my initial impression is not great. Previously ran fibre from the router to a to link converter then via Ethernet to the ee8. Initial testing is revealing a harsher, more sibilant sound using the eero connected to the ee8. Will play around some more today though
Ok I’m curious about this. I’ve never ran fibre so I don’t know how it sounds in comparison. I most certainly don’t have any sibilant sound that I’m aware of with my hybrid approach it works well for convenience and sq for my setup.
I have only two words here for NDX 2 ‘wired’ via (a) switch - MeiCord Opal.
I thought you went back to wireless.
Regardless it’s all good
Yup! Either or…
It’s funny how our brain/ears processes change. For awhile I thought Ethernet sounded much better then I switched and wasn’t so sure. Two more beers and I thought my ancient computer with Napster mp3 rips was the best sound ever. Lol
Anyway honestly I think dependent on circumstances there is no perfect answer, they are equally good.
I cannot hear any difference. Seriously.
I’ve long ago stopped trying. I’m just a happy listener of music.
Well; it sure has free’d up a load of money. The WiFi antennae were in the box all along…
Have you fallen out of love with your Audioquest Vodkas, then?
Probably a full loom vodka can’t be appreciated too often. Not good for the stomac and the head.
No i still have those.
It’s a sort of ‘on/off/maybe on/definitely on/maybe off/definitely off’ relationship I think.
G
I think it is more like this………
When you put your left arm in
Your left arm out
In, out, in, out
You shake it all about
You do the hokey cokey
And you turn around
That’s what it’s all about
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Knees bent, arms stretched
Ra, ra, ra
You put your right arm in
Your right arm out
In, out, in, out
You shake it all about
You do the hokey cokey
And you turn around
That’s what it’s all about
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Knees bent, arms stretched
Ra, ra, ra
You put your left leg in
Your left leg out
In, out, in, out
Shake it all about
You do the hokey cokey
And you turn around
That’s what it’s all about
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Knees bent, arms stretched
Ra, ra, ra
You put your right leg in
Your right leg out
In, out, in, out
You shake it all about
You do the hokey cokey
And you turn around
That’s what it’s all about
All together now
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Knees bent, arms stretched
Ra, ra, ra
You put your whole self in
Your whole self out
In (woo), out (woo)
Shake it all about
Do the hokey cokey
And you turn around
That’s what it’s all about
Wait for it (wooo)
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Knees bent, arms stretched
Ra, ra, ra
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Woah-oh, the hokey cokey
Knees bent, arms stretched
Ra, ra, ra
And that’s that!
Had a look at the Uptone audio site to see if there were any new developments. They hope to be in production of Etherregen Gen 2 in April which has a few improvements.
My experience too.
WiFi it is then. Just forget everything about Cisco’s, BJC, EE8 etc. it never happened. It’s like when Bobby walked out the shower in Dallas.
Yes, i would…
